On May 25-26, the 2024 academic conference of the Young Economist Society of China (YES) - "YES Chengdu: Seminar on Chinese Economic Theory and Policy" - was successfully concluded at the Liulin Campus. This conference brought together academic elites from universities across the country to deeply explore the latest developments and cutting-edge issues in the field of economics, injecting new vitality into the prosperity and development of economics.
This conference is hosted by YES and organized by RIEM at SWUFE. At the same time, it has received strong support from journals such as World Economy, Comparative Economic and Social Systems, Growth and Change, and Journal of Rural Studies.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Dong Yan, Executive Vice Dean of RIEM and Professor Liu Zhikuo from the School of Economics at Fudan University delivered speeches respectively, reviewing the development process of YES and highly affirming its role in promoting economic research in China. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Xiao Wei, Director of the Department of Applied Economics at RIEM. More than 100 teachers and students from 30 universities participated in the seminar.
During the conference, participants conducted in-depth discussions on various aspects such as industry, ownership and investment, assets and taxation, nature, culture and institutions, employment and labor policies, regional, innovation and economic resilience, labor economy, trade and development, environmental governance, education and development, family welfare and family finance, urban and transportation, financial technology and innovation, environment and education, finance and regulation, and fiscal and tax policies. The conference presented 54 high-quality papers through 15 parallel venues, demonstrating the breadth and depth of economic research.
YES is committed to promoting economic research, exchange, and cooperation. Since hosting the YES Chengdu Forum in 2023, the Institute of Economics and Management at Southwest University of Finance and Economics has always adhered to this purpose and contributed to the prosperity and development of the economics community.
