Professor Vinod R. Singhal is the Charles W. Brady Chair in Operations Management at the Scheller School of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the United States. He is one of the most influential scholars in the field of international operations and supply chain management. Professor Singhal's research focuses on operational strategy, supply chain management, and the empirical impact of operational decisions on corporate finance and market value. He has published a large number of high-level papers in top academic journals around the world, including research results in UTD-24 and FT-50 journals such as Management Science, Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Manufacturing&Service Operations Management, etc. His multiple papers have become highly cited in the field and have had a wide-ranging impact on supply chain risk management, quality management, and enterprise system implementation. He has served or is currently serving as an editorial board member for several top international journals, including Associate Editor of Management Science (2006-20124), Associate Editor of Journal of Operations Management (2009-2011), and Editor in Chief of Production and Operations Management (2006 present). He has also served on editorial boards for journals such as Manufacturing&Service Operations Management and IIE Transactions. Due to his outstanding academic contributions, Professor Singhal has been awarded multiple honors, including Production and Operations Management Society Fellow, JOM Best Paper Award, POMS Best Departmental Editor Award, and Management Science Outstanding Service Award.
Abstract
This lecture will introduce a framework for conducting empirical research on supply chain management. Explore how to choose influential research topics, define research boundaries, and select appropriate data sources and methodologies. At the same time, several research directions worth paying attention to in the future will be pointed out, and a recent empirical study on supply chain management will be combined to specifically explain this framework.
