Zhang Dayong et al.: The Disciplinary Connotation, Chinese Practice, and Frontier Research of Climate Finance
Recently, the paper Climate Finance: Disciplinary Connotation, Practice in China, and Frontier Research, co-authored by five chair professors (Zhang Dayong, Zhang Yuejun, Wang Yudong, Wang Qunwei, and Ji Qiang) from the Climate Finance Research Chapter of the Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economic Mathematics, was officially published in Journal of Management Sciences in China, Issue 8, 2023.
This paper represents a highly condensed summary of the disciplinary connotation and development trends of climate finance, built on the Chapter’s long-term research accumulation in this field. The Chapter brings together leading scholars, experts, and young talents in climate finance worldwide, focusing on cutting-edge international issues to advance theoretical breakthroughs and disciplinary development in climate finance in China, and to foster leading and reserve research talents in energy and climate finance.
The Journal of Management Sciences in China was founded in 1998 by the Department of Management Science, National Natural Science Foundation of China. It is a top comprehensive academic journal in management science in China, rated as an A-class important journal by the NSFC, listed in the FMS High-Quality Chinese Management Journals, recognized as China’s Most Internationally Influential Academic Journals for 10 consecutive years (2012–2021), and among the first batch included in the Think Tank Journal Group 1.0 Edition in 2021.

Article Abstract
Against the global effort to address climate change, developing climate investment and financing has become an international consensus. As an emerging interdisciplinary field, climate finance studies the interactions between climate change and financial activities. This paper systematically defines the concept and connotation of climate finance for the first time, reviews the latest progress via bibliometric analysis, summarizes the development of climate finance in China from funding, academic institutions, and industrial investment and financing, and finally outlines the theoretical frontiers and application scenarios for future disciplinary development.
